Judge Who Presided Over Casey Anthony Trial Breaks Silence – Expresses Shock
The honorable Belvin Perry, the Florida circuit court judge who presided over the Casey Anthony trial, has broken silence to express his personal shock over the jury’s “not guilty” verdict.
Judge Perry believes there was sufficient evidence to convict Anthony in the death of her young daughter Caylee. Judge Perry described Anthony as being “very manipulative”.
He went on to describe the two personalities of Anthony that he saw during the trial: the loving mother wrongfully accused of her little girl’s death while the jury was present and the calculating & manipulative person when the jury was not present.
However, Judge Perry did not explain how the jury would have been privy to see the dark side of Casey Anthony when they were out of the courtroom. He also attributed the “not guilty” verdict to Anthony’s very personable attorney Jose Baez. The judge believes there was enough evidence to hand down a verdict of guilty for murder in the first degree.
It appears that Judge Perry may have let his own personal bias cloud his judgment because he admits the entire case against Anthony was circumstantial. Yet, his honor believes that all that was needed to convict a person of first degree murder is circumstantial evidence and reasonable doubt as to their “innocence” when it is actually guilt beyond a reasonable doubt that is required.
