Trace Adkins Tells Sea World: “You’re Fired!”

Well, it wasn’t quite that way when Trace Adkins, country singer and 2013 Celebrity Apprentice, backed out of a singing performance at Sea World, but the controversy stemming from a documentary on the venue’s history of treatment of its animals continues to grow. With his departure, Adkins becomes just another in a long list of celebrities who have cowered at the criticism that animal rights groups are heaping on Sea World.

It should be noted that as a point of fact, in cinematography classes, documentaries are described as being the most biased films despite the aura of impartiality they often employ. Adkins’ spokesman e-mailed CNN telling them that the singer wants the focus on his music and not any controversy. For this reason, he’s dropping off the show. It is as much an admission that the singer is not responding to the merits of the controversy, but the fact that there is negative press associated with Sea World at this time.

Sea World has confirmed that they will have replacement acts for their concert series, but that will be easier said than done. They also affirm that the film at the center of the controversy ignores their extensive efforts to promote nature conservation.
