Hypnotist Dies in Australian Balcony Plunge
Scott Lewis, a well known American-based hypnotist who had been visiting Australia with his stage show, fell to his death last weekend from the balcony of his apartment in Sydney. Lewis had been offering performances at the Sydney Opera House and was staying at a building located nearby. Police called to the scene indicated that he had fallen from the 11th floor of the apartment complex and landed onto another balcony on the fourth floor.
Police investigators are not considering any foul play involved with his tragic death, but still have not determined if his fall from the building’s outdoor balcony was accidental or might have been a suicide attempt. Lewis was an internationally known performer who was a headliner at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas for nine years, and was known for offering a show that blended comedy and hypnosis that was suitable for all ages, including children. Officials at the Sydney Opera House confirmed that the show in which Lewis was participating, called “The Illusionist 2.0” and featuring the talents of half a dozen different performers, would continue as scheduled. It is not known if Lewis had any survivors or if a memorial service is planned.
