Cheerleader To Face Discipline Over Trying To Trip Player (VIDEO)
Poor Sportsmanship Leads to Discipline for an Oklahoma Cheerleader
A male cheerleader from Oklahoma State is facing disciplinary actions after his unsportsmanlike conduct at a game last week in Bedlam.
As one of Oklahoma’s players celebrated a touchdown during their rivalry game last week one of the cheerleaders for Oklahoma state stuck his foot out and looked as though he was attempting to trip the scoring player. A video being taken during the game shows that the male cheerleader extended his foot towards one of the Oklahoma players in a mocking fashion as he was celebrating the victory of the touchdown that was the winning score for their rivalry game. Eric Striker, the celebrating player, was not tripped by the cheerleader nor hurt in any way by the cheerleaders actions.
Dave Martin, the deputy athletic director for Oklahoma state, was appalled by the action of his cheerleader. He says that their department does not in any way support their team nor their cheerleaders physically or verbally abusing any other players or fans. They expect good sportsmanship from everyone in the team. He is not happy with his unsportsmanlike conduct and has stated that the cheerleader will face “consequences for his poor judgment and actions.”
