Coldest NFL game: San Francisco Wins in Green Bay

Green Bay, Wisconsin – The season is now over for the Green Bay Packers. The home field advantage and ferocious cold were not enough to stop the 49er juggernaut. Media reported the game as the coldest game yet for the NFL. Whether it was won’t change the fact that it was well below freezing at 5F and -10F with wind chill. The cold should have given the Packers the edge, but it was a battle to the finish.

In the end, San Francisco prevailed with a field goal as time expired for the Packers. The final score was 23-20. Some commentators believe that Green Bay simply ran out of energy in the 4th quarter. With 10:39 left to play in the game, Green Bay took the lead with a one yard touchdown run which came straight off a 28-year pass that put Green Bay at 1st and goal.

The San Francisco offense was simply on fire and wore out the Packers defense. 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree caught 8 passes for 125 yards. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick ran for 98 yards and passed for 227 yards. Those kind of numbers in this cold weather would wear out any defense.
