Critics Diss Extreme Diet Followed by Nicole Richie

Personal Trainer Tracy Anderson has managed to win the trust of such celebrity clients as Nicole Richie, Victoria Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow. They have followed her diet plan that nutritionists now say is dangerous and extreme. Anderson’s diet program may keep the celebrities who follow it for as long as 90 days looking sleek and lean, but experts contend that her Dynamic Eating Plan requires a calorie intake as low as 500, which precludes the body’s ability to obtain necessary daily nutrients. During portions of the program, participants may only consume “nutrient boosts”, cocktails made from juices and pureed fruits and vegetables.

The trainer’s Dynamic Eating Plan also eliminates most essential fats and also restricts the consumption of carbohydrates which the body needs for energy. Although food consumption while on this extreme diet is minimal, participants are encouraged to follow a rigorous exercise program for six days out of seven for as long as 60 minutes each day. Anderson’s first used her extreme diet when she counseled pop star Madonna, who has since broken ties with Anderson as her celebrity roster continued to grow. Richie, who has suffered anorexia, has been known to be a fan of Anderson’s diet.
