Daniel Sibley Gets Pulled into Water in Epic Fight Against Giant Catfish
Oundle, England – 21-year-old Daniel Sibley has a big fish story to tell that will amaze anglers for years to come. Using just a basic fishing rod and 8-lb line, he bagged himself a giant cat fish weighing in a 108 lbs. in the waters of Bluebell Lakes. Sibley, a resident of Blaby, fought the fish for over two hours.
Besides the obvious question of how in the world a fish of that size and weight couldn’t snap a fishing line which was rated for a mere 14th of its weight, the next question is how did Sibley manage to get the upper hand on it.
Initially, the fish pulled him into the lake. Sibley recalls that he immediately found himself in waters neck high. He then recalls having to dog paddle while holding onto the fishing rod and attempting to reel in the fish.
The fishing journal “Anglers Mail” ranks the catch in the top ten largest fish captured in English waters. However, when it comes to fish caught using a fishing pole, Sibley’s catch ranks as the biggest. In fact, Sibley won praise from the journal given that the success of the catch had more to do with his skill as an angler than it did with the quality of the pole.
