Man Dies After Being Crushed by 5 Tons of Grapes

A Spanish man fell into a grape reception bay earlier this week, soon meeting his doom. Five tons of grapes were unknowingly poured on the man by truck before he had a chance to escape, reports the Huff Post.

The event happened in the Spanish wine producing region of Castilla-La Mancha. The grapes were being harvested for annual wine making.

Local rescue services pulled the man out on Friday. A day after he fell in.

Although ambulance operators and firefighters tried to resuscitate the man, he was declared dead at the scene.

There are no details on who the man is yet. He is identified by his initials, A.O.

Castilla-La Mancha, Spain is considered to have more land dedicated to grape cultivation than any other region in the world. It devotes around 1,790 square miles (465,350 hectares) of land to it’s vineyards.

Wine has been made in Spain for thousands of years.
