When anyone loses a child, no matter what the age, it is devastating. Maria Tiberi, whose father was TV sports anchor for the Ohio Buckeyes, lost her life on September 17 when her car crashed into a tractor trailer.

Dom Tiberi is the beloved TV anchor for WBNS in Columbus and has been reporting on the Buckeyes for years. When this tragedy occurred, Tiberi took off from announcing the games to grieve and remember his daughter as any other father would.

Outpourings of his fans love and attention flooded the Tiberi family from all over the Columbus area. On Saturday, September 28, Tiberi reported on the game against Wisconsin.

His home team players were ready to show the loyalty of the Buckeyes towards their grieving broadcaster. Ohio State played tribute with a moment of silence for Maria Tiberi, but that was just the beginning.

One by one, 78 players and 8 staff members of the Ohio Buckeyes lined up to give Tiberi a heartfelt embrace! The entire act of affection was caught on video, and Tiberi was visibly affected. Shaking from emotion, he said, “Whoa….That was Amazing!”

This outward show of love and support for the loss in this TV anchor’s life will always be treasured by this man, and the burden Tiberi carried will be lighter.
