Florida Man Tries to Pay Water Bill Using $100 worth of Cocaine
The water department in Deltona, FL frowns upon any bill payment method other than cash, which is why they were surprised when a customer recently tried to settle his account using an envelope filled with cocaine. The male customer, who has not been identified, walked into the city’s water department offices personally and handed the clerk an envelope containing three grams of the illegal substance which had been stored in a plastic bag. Employees initially panicked, not knowing whether or not the white powder might be dangerous, so everyone in the building was evacuated.
Upon further investigation, the substance in the plastic bag was discovered to be cocaine, currently considered an illegal drug. There was no identification on the envelope and the clerk couldn’t give local police much of a description of the customer other than to report he was wearing shorts and a t-shirt and riding a bicycle. No one in the water department office could say that they had ever seen the man before and there was no word if the office used security cameras to record customer comings and goings. It’s not known what the customer owed, but the value of the cocaine is around $100 per gram.
