Girl Drives 60 mph, Forced By Father
If anyone has had their parents teach them to drive, it is usually a mundane and boring affair involving an empty parking lot and road cones. However, one little girl in St. Petersburg, Russia had a very different experience.
Police are investigating an online video showing a young St Petersburg girl named Karina Mikulchik racing down an icy snow covered road while her parents, Dmitry and Lena Mikulchik, sit in the vehicle and video tape her. In the video, Karina can be seen with both hands clutched on the steering wheel as her father pushes her to go faster, even pass a slower vehicle in their way. As the vehicle’s speed approaches 90 km/h (56 mph) Dmitry can be heard telling Karina to stop looking at the speedometer and try to increase the vehicle’s speed to 100 km/h (60mph).
Throughout the recording it does not appear anyone is wearing a seat belt and the car radio can be heard blaring music.
The video has gone viral, attracting more than 500,000 views and no shortage of viewer comments which range from outrage to, shockingly, support for the Mekulchiks.
A St. Petersburg Police spokesman has stated that their office has opened a probe into the incident and the Mekulchiks could possibly face a fine of 2,500 roubles ($80 dollars).
