girl found in dumpster – arrest made
An arrest has been made in the case of Reann Murphy, the 9 year old girl whose body was found in a dumpster in Wayne County, Ohio on the 15th of December. According to WKYC news, the police have charged Jerrod Metsker, 24 who is described as a friend of the Murphy family, with aggravated murder.
Murphy, who was reported missing the night before, was seen building a snowman and playing with Metsker only two hours before she disappeared. Metsker was also a resident of the trailer where Murphy lived. It was the last time she was seen alive. Less than 12 hours later Metsker was arrested at his home and taken into custody.
“All she did was love people,” Reann’s father, Richard Murphy, told The Daily Record in Wooster. He said that he wanted the “worst for the guy” who killed his daughter and declined to comment further.
The Sheriff in Wayne County would not reveal how the young girl died or speculate as to metsker’s possible motive for committing the crime. Metsker was arraigned Monday and is currently being held on a one Million dollar bond.
“Any violent death is troubling but the death of a child is much more so. We will leave no stone unturned as this investigation continues,” Sheriff Hutchinson said.
Daniel Lutz, the county prosecutor, said that a preliminary hearing in the case was set for Monday and that a grand jury could be held as early as Friday. The coroner’s office has not yet revealed a cause of death but said that Reann was not shot or stabbed.
