Kidman Grace of Monaco BioPic Delays Release Date

Movie goers anxiously awaiting Nicole Kidman’s portrayal of actress turned princess Grace Kelly in “Grace of Monaco” may have to wait indefinitely. The Weinstein Company has announced that it is delaying the expected March 14 general release date and has given no indication when the movie might be scheduled for theaters nationwide. But producers of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France have announced that “Grace of Monaco” has been selected as the opening movie for that special event.

Director Olivier Dahan requested a delay from the film’s original November 2013 release date because several elements of the film were still in preparation, including the movie’s musical score. But now it seems that Dahan insists he is finished with his part in the film’s preparation and has suggested that Harvey Weinstein is the party responsible for tinkering with his work of art in order to make it a more commercially viable release. Although “Grace of Monaco” will be the opening presentation at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14, it will not be considered in any of the festival’s judged categories. Monaco’s Royal Family, including Grace’s three children, have already criticized the project for its inaccurate portrayal of Kelly.
