I built my own Downton Abbey…from lego

It appears that the hit show Downton Abbey has some rather creative fans. Eric Stevens, a 23-year-old Downton Abbey enthusiast from Rochester, New York, has created a detailed model of Downton Abbey using thousands of Lego blocks. The model comes complete with the aristocratic Crowley family.

It took Stevens about 15 hours to painstakingly recreate every detail of the Abbey. He created the model using aerial shots of Highclere Castle in Berkshire, UK where creators film the show. He also used floor plans of the building which he found online. He designed the figures of the Crowley family using photos found online of the cast.

Stevens took parts of other Lego sets to create their period costumes. “All the characters are Lego-designed parts, rather than custom-printed pieces. The apron, for Lady Sybil’s nurse outfit, I made myself.”

Stevens says he created the model as a Christmas present for his girlfriend. “I looked to see if anyone had created Downton Abbey Lego whilst watching last year. I couldn’t find any other ones, so I decided to build it myself as a gift for my girlfriend, who also loves the show.” What better way to express your love this season?
