Two vintage episodes of the popular TV comedy series “I Love Lucy” will be spotlighted during an “I Love Lucy” Christmas special on the CBS Network on Friday, December 20. Two episodes originally created in the 1950s and aired in black and white will now be shown in full colorization. This will allow Lucy fans to see Lucille Ball’s vibrant red hair, Fred Mertz’ nicely tailored brown tweed suit and Ethel’s festive purple holiday dress. Fans of the longest running TV show in history, which has never gone off the air, are looking forward to seeing “The Christmas Episode” which was lost for a time and has rarely been seen since its first original broadcast.

When the Christmas episode aired in 1956, the show’s star and co-producer Lucille Ball wasn’t really satisfied with it and pulled it from further viewing. The episode shows Lucy and Ricky Ricardo along with neighbors and landlords Fred and Ethel Mertz busy decorating the Ricardo’s apartment for the annual visit from Santa Claus. The second episode seen during the CBS special is the infamous visit by Lucy to an authentic winery in Italy during the show’s European story arc, including the famous grape stomping scene.
