Iran to Sue Hollywood Producers of ‘Argo’ Film
In a move certain to further marginalize the rogue nation, Iran has announced it’s intention of suing the Hollywood producers of the film ‘Argo’ for being Anti-Iranian. The film won the Oscar Best Picture 2012 in the most recent Oscars ceremony.
Based on a true story, the film depicts the efforts of the CIA to extract six US diplomats from the country at a time when other embassy employees were being held hostage. Essentially, the CIA “punked” Iran into believing they were filming a SCI-FI movie and that the six diplomats were part of the movie crew. Iran has been vocal about the depiction of their nation during the early days of their revolution. The chief complaint of the government-controlled state press has been, “The Iranophobic American movie attempts to describe Iranians as overemotional, irrational, insane and diabolical while at the same, the CIA agents are represented as heroically patriotic.”
The country had previously announced plans to create a film of their own in response to ‘Argo’ and have disclosed the name of that picture to be “The General Staff”; There has been no word on when the film is set to begin shooting nor who will star in this motion picture as the hostage takers.
