Jennifer Love Hewitt Added To List of Twitter Quitters

Jennifer Love Hewitt said farewell to Twitter, siting “negativity,” “threats” and “bad vibes” for her departure. She deleted her account shortly after Alec Baldwin denounced social media calling it “a waste of time.”

Hewitt and Baldwin are not the first celebrities to leave the social networking website. It was not even Baldwin’s first attempt to quit. He also left in 2011 after the incident with American Airlines. Miley Cyrus was one of the first notable quitters of Twitter back in October 2009. She did return two years later thought in 2011. John Mayer quit in mid-2010 saying he was addicted to tweeting and could not get anything else done in his life.

Ashton Kutcher found himself in hot water following the Penn State football scandal. He did not exactly quit Twitter entirely, but instead gave his account to his management, which is what a number of celebrities do anyway. Megan Fox left Twitter earlier this year with a nice goodbye Tweet reading:

Facebook is as much as I can handle. #imsorry

Adele, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Sinead O’Connor and others have also abandoned Twitter. The reasons vary and some return, others do not. More are sure to follow Jennifer Love Hewitt.
