Johannesburg, South Africa – Admittedly, it is a bit of embellishment to say that “The Only Way is Essex” (TOWIE) star Joey Essex was bitten by a “rage” filled monkey, but a chimp certainly was after a piece of him. Ironically, Essex had flown into South Africa for the express purpose of meeting the monkey which ended up attacking him.
Essex was planning on traveling to the Ugandan jungle in a quest to see native wild monkeys. Before he was set to explore the jungle, he paid a visit to the Randburg flea market in order to meet Milo the domesticated monkey. Milo was wearing a waistcoat and nappy which are sure signs of culture and class when it suddenly bit him on the arm. It just goes to show that it’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for. Essex subsequently traveled to the hospital to make sure he didn’t catch rabies from Milo.
Someone in the know said that there really wasn’t any concern that Essex might have caught rabies since he was protected by clothes in the spot where Milo bit him. However, you couldn’t tell Essex that as he flew into a panic, but all’s well that ends well. He’s reportedly doing fine.
