Siberian Tiger Found In Car: Stuffed In Back Of SUV

AFP News/Dai Wei – A dead Siberian tiger wrapped in a plastic bag lies in a car in Wenzhou, east China’s Zhejiang province on January 8, 2014
There are a lot of things that police can find when they stop a car to search it – but there are plenty of things that they don’t really expect to find, a category to which we imagine a Siberian tiger would fit into quite nicely.
The tiger was being kept inside a plastic bag in the back of an SUV when police noticed the strangely shaped plastic bag and decided to search the SUV. In recent years, the numbers of Siberian tigers have decreased dramatically due in no small part to logging, but the biggest killer of these animals is the illicit trade in traditional Chinese medicine.
Whatever killed this particular Siberian Tiger is not yet clear, though the body has been taken to a nearby zoo for examination. The experts there still know very little about what killed the tiger or exactly it came to be in the back of a man’s SUV.
In the meantime, the man whose SUV the tiger was found in (a former chef) will remain in jail as Chinese officials continue to try and figure out exactly what killed this tiger and why it was being transported somewhere in a man’s SUV.
