It’s been more than a decade and one marriage to Tom Cruise later, but Katie Holmes is set to return to the small screen. For the first time since 2004, Holmes, 35, is returning to the medium that launched her fame. She’s been cast in a dramatic pilot set for ABC from Richard LaGravenes, the man behind the campy Liberace tale, “Behind the Candelabria,” that aired on HBO in 2013.

The drama, should it be sold in full to ABC, represents Holmes’ first TV show since “Dawson’s Creek” although she has appeared as guest star in “Eli Stone,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and “The Kennedys.”

It’s a high society drama, sources say of the pilot that stars Homes as Ann, a highly educated society lady running a philanthropy along with her spouse. Her rivals are another Upper East Side Manhattan couple Margot and Phil, who place a wager centered on destroying Ann’s marriage.

The former teen actress and mother of Suri Cruise, 7, will play opposite Rufus Sewell in the show. Taylor Hackford of “An officer and a Gentleman” and so many more top films, will direct the pilot. For Holmes, this show represents a re-boot of her career.
