La Toya Jackson Married again

It was has become more commonplace in a world with endless television channels and reality shows, La Toya Jackson has gotten married to Jeffre Phillips after his marriage proposal was recorded live on a TV reality show titled Life with La Toya. Jackson’s show is being produced for Oprah Winfrey’s network OWN.

‘I met everyone in her family before her,’ said Phillips. ‘I knew Michael and Jermaine and everyone before I met La Toya and to be honest I thought she was the odd one! Then I met her and saw how smart and talented she was and we just became instant friends.’

This is not the first marriage for the 57-year-old sister of Michael Jackson. She was involved in a very abusive and manipulative seven plus year marriage to her former manager Jack Gordon. Gordon was hired by La Toya’s father to manage her fledgling career in 1989 and things quickly went downhill for her. Gordon was responsible for La Toya’s descent into more risque music, video, and commercial projects. He convinced her to pose nude for “Playboy” and in a series of demeaning low budget projects. Gordon convinced La Toya to marry him to protect her from outside threats and she subsequently become more and more withdrawn from her family. In 1996 Gordon began negotiations to have La Toya star in a pornographic video and she was able to get out of the marriage by filing divorce under the Violence Against Women Act.

La Toya’s new husband is a longtime friend of the Jackson family and has been business partners with La Toya on various ventures. They were wed on December, 6th.
