Man Charged in “50 Shades of Grey” Rape Case Gets Cleared
Stratford, New Zealand – Judge Allan Roberts has cleared the man charged with four counts of sexual violation by “unlawful sexual connection” and two counts of rape of his ex-wife. The case gained international notoriety for the obvious similarities between sexual scenes from the hugely successful book “Fifty Shades of Grey”. The victim had been married to the defendant for fifteen years and they shared one child.
After their divorce in 2012, the couple maintained contact with one another. The man apparently wanted to maintain a physical relationship with his ex-wife and did so by dawning the persona of a 20-year-old acquaintance he once met. Using a cell phone number unknown to her, he began texting she messages. Not long after that, the two adults were sexting one another. They arranged for their first encounter with her agreeing to remain blindfolded for the encounter. They engaged in physical congress which she admitted was pleasurable. However, she as she blindfolded the entire time, she did not see him.
“This has been the most bizarre and complex case that I’ve seen in 15 years,” said defence lawyer Paul Keegan.
The next encounter also ended in intercourse, but she followed after him soon after he left. She began to suspect the man was actually her ex-husband which prompted her to go to the police.
