man claims to be veterinarian: Treats dog and steals purse
A Texas woman says she was betrayed by a man claiming to be a veterinarian who ultimately stole her wallet after tending to her dog’s ingrown toenails. Gay Penny recently contacted police to alert them that a con man by the name of Bradbury posed as a veterinarian when she alerted neighbors she was in need of medical help for her small dog and was introduced to Bradbury. Penny said he was dressed in medical garb and in possession of such medical equipment as a blood pressure cuff.
After removing her dog’s in-grown toenails, Bradbury visited Penny’s home in Ft. Worth to check up on the animal, but in reality he was using the occasion to make off with her purse. Police ultimately caught up with Bradbury and charged him not only with theft but also with practicing veterinary medicine without a license. Bradbury insists it was all a misunderstanding and that he never represented himself as anything more than an animal trainer who enjoys helping people care for their pets. He also denied stealing anything from the woman. But Penny is now cautioning others to insist on seeing some form of identification before allowing anyone to treat their animals.
