Mandela feud starts as locks are changed on grandson

Qunu, South Africa – It starts! All too often the passing away of a loved one follows a period of family strife with surviving family jockeying for share of the assets. Apparently, Mandla Mandela, the grandson of the late civil rights icon, is a descendant by Nelson Mandela’s second oldest child. The 39-year-old arrived home following the burial of his grandfather to find that the locks on the home were changed.

Apparently, the order to change the locks came from his 59-year-old aunt Makaziwe who is Nelson Mandela’s daughter from his first wife, Evelyn Mase. It appears that the town of Qunu is not big enough for the two of them. Both Makaziwe and Mandla are keen to assume to role as the heir of Nelson Mandela’s legacy.

For now, Mandla’s troubles are just beginning. Not only does he need to find a new residence, but he’ll need to find a place big enough for his dogs, pigs, and cattle as Makziwe wants them gone as well. At stake will be who will have the legal rights over Nelson Mandela’s image which could be lucrative. Also, the heir will control Mr. Mandela’s trust funds. Sadly, it always boils down to money. Analysts expect the feud to get nastier as each day passes.
