The reigning Miss Delaware Teen USA, Melissa King has resigned and handed in her crown after a pornographic video surfaced online.
“The Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant has received a resignation letter from Miss King’s attorney,” pageant spokeswoman Dara Busch said in an e-mail Tuesday.
In the video, a woman resembling King stated that she just turned 18 in March, which just happens to be the month that the pageant winner was born. The woman also stated that she has done some beauty pageants and when asked why she decided to make this porn video, she said that it sounded like it would be fun and exciting; also mentioning that she needed the money.
King told Delaware online, that the comments on the website are not true and she is denying that the woman in the video is her.
In a phone interview with The News Journal on Monday, King said she was aware of the video, but denied appearing in it.
“Absolutely not,” she said. “It is not.”
King was crowned Miss Delaware Teen USA last November, many months after the porn video was made. Hailey Lawler, the first runner up in the pageant has been contacted to replace Melissa King.
NBC and Donald Trump, own The Miss Teen USA pageant, which is a part of the Miss Universe organization. Sex tape and sex video candles are nothing new to these organizations.
Anya Ayoung-Chee, who was crowned Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2008, was accused of taking part in a porn video in which she was part of a threesome, but her boyfriend at the time denied she had any involvement in the film. Also Carrie Prejean, winner of the 2009 Miss California USA pageant said her involvement in a sex video was the worst mistake of her life.
