Actor Couple Ends Relationship

Michelle Williams, whose most recent screen appearance was in the film Oz the Great and Powerful, has reportedly split from boyfriend Jason Segel. The couple had been dating for one year, and the reason given for the breakup was the long-distance nature of the relationship. Williams lives in New York City, while Segel spends most of his time in Los Angeles filming episodes of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise to fans, as the couple recently returned from a trip to Cancun, where they spent time with friend Busy Phillips. Williams had also expressed gratitude at all the support the couple had received regarding their unusual arrangement. She stated that she was the happiest she had ever been and was smiling a lot.

Williams, 32, formerly dated actor Heath Ledger, with whom she starred in Brokeback Mountain, from 2004 until his death from an overdose in 2008. The relationship produced a daughter, Matilda, who is now seven.

Segel’s fans had expected the television star to marry Williams, as it was clear he loved Matilda and was making great strides toward being an adult.

The two actors are expected to remain good friends.
