Former Bears Coach Ditka Hibernates on ESPN’s NFL Countdown Program

Coach Ditka remains a very busy man at age 74. While most men his age have long been put out to pasture, he travels the country for various business dealings, appearances, and events. So in defense of the coach, it must be that his hectic life takes a toll on him. However, in a rather embarrassing moment, the former head coach for the Chicago Bears was seen in hibernation mode on the set of ESPN’s NFL Countdown show.

The show had briefly gone to Josia Anderson for a segment, but when it returned Coach Ditka was sitting erect and peacefully still. Former Cowboys Wide Receiver Keyshawn Johnson co-anchored the show and had to gently nudge the coach out of his beauty rest.

To this day, Mike Ditka remains an icon in sports for his acumen regarding the nation’s favorite sport. He nearly pursued a career in politics back in 2006 when the GOP tried to recruit him to challenge then state senator Barrack Obama for the open US senate seat for Illinois. Ditka said he had no interest in politics at the time, but has since regretted that decision due to the negative impact that President Obama’s policies have had on the economy.
