When Weverton Silva, a 10 year old Brazilian boy, fell from a tree onto an iron bar doctors were not sure that he would make it. According to Metro News the Rio de Janeiro native was picking guava fruits last Saturday when he fell out of the tree and onto an upright 2 foot metal spike.

The bar pierced the left side of the boy’s torso and exited out close to his right ear through his next. The child was not expected to make it to the hospital. However despite a terrifying hospital arrival the New York Daily News reports that after a grueling five hour intensive surgery the operating doctors were able to remove the entirely of the metal spike, which had somehow missed every single vital organ by passing through arterial routes. The metal bar was removed in a single piece.

The child has since been hailed as a medical miracle by Brazilian doctors and was released from the hospital yesterday, happy to go home, reports News First. Doctor Rodrigo Chicralla told reporters at Brazil’s Globo Television Network that it must had been a miracle that allowed Weverton to survive.
