According to various reports, a 4-year-old girl who went missing Friday night in Richmond has Calif, been found.

A police lieutenant said Saturday Amia Renee disappeared shortly before 5 p.m. Friday from a home at 4230 Wall Ave. where she was visiting family, Lt. Bisa French said.

After several hours of searching, the missing girl was found under a bed at the same house she had gone missing from, French said.

“She was surrounded by many different items and unfortunately had gone undetected,” police spokesperson Lt. Bisa French told the San Francisco Chronicle.

The girl’s mother told reporters she was sorry for worrying the public.

According to the little girl’s grandmother, she has a habit of hiding from her family.

Her mother thanked everyone for helping in the search.

“I’m sorry that she was in here. I feel like we looked for her really, really good — they had the dogs come in and everything,” said Christina Nance, Amia’s mother. “I’m sorry we put everybody through this, but I’m so happy she’s okay.”

While this missing girl under bed story caused international headlines, no doubt, the family and Richmond community are breathing a sense of relief with a happy ending.

The girl is in good condition, according to French.

According to a report from ABC News, thousands of people go missing in the United States each year and many are never heard from again.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, roughly 800,000 children are reported missing each year in the United States — that’s roughly 2,000 per day. Of those, there are 115 child “stranger abduction” cases each year, which means the child was taken by an unknown person.
