New Bride gets a Slap from Her Mother

Things tend to get emotional in every wedding, but not often does the mother of the bride slap her clean across the face after the reception. Leslie Duane of Connecticut felt the need to imprint her hand on the face of her daughter after she had been escorted out of the reception for heavy intoxication.

Duane’s daughter was simply helping her get into her car when the urge to strike hit. Someone at the wedding notified the authorities and Mrs. Duane was brought into custody for processing. She was charged with assault and battery and ordered not to have contact with her own daughter.

Duane’s bail was a mere $200 since she was not previously convicted of similar crimes. However, the courts placed a no contact order between her and her daughter. Her daughter tried to bail her out of jail, but the no contact order caused complications in that process. Apparently, Duane’s daughter has forgiven her for the drunken slap.

Duane pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault and battery. She has yet to attend court for the trial on that. Conviction will depend on the words of the witnesses. It is doubtful that Duane’s daughter will be out for justice.

“This is a wedding gone awry, allegedly,” Judge Douglas Stoddart said during the arraignment.
