Body of Nevada Chief Insurance Examiner Found in River

A body bound with duct tape and thrown into a river in Carson City, Nevada is believed to be the state’s chief insurance examiner, William McCune. McCune mysteriously disappeared last week before the body, found bound and wrapped in a blanket, was discovered in the river and his apartment showed bloody signs of a violent struggle.

A co-worker first alerted authorities that McCune was missing after he failed to show up for an appointment and disturbing signs were found at his residence.

Four suspects have since been arrested on suspicion of McCune’s murder, although the body has not yet been officially identified and authorities are at a loss to explain the relationship of the four men to McCune or any motive that they might have had to do him harm. One of the suspects, all men in their 20s, was arrested in Carson City while the other three were arrested after fleeing to Las Vegas. So far, two of the men have been charged with murder while the other two were arrested on burglary charges.

Authorities will only say that McCune’s slaying seems connected to something in his personal rather than professional life. McCune worked in Nevada’s Division of Insurance since 2009.
