One Direction’s Liam Payne Goes to Hospital for Burns Following Explosion

Liam Payne of the popular UK boy band “One Direction” has a lot to be grateful for at this time. The band is at their height of popularity and their low-budget concert film “1D: This is Us” was the number one box office film in the United States over the Labor Day weekend with $18 million in ticket sales for a total of $33 million worldwide.

However, it is his life that he ought to be most thankful for following a freak explosion on his balcony. Apparently, he operates a gasoline powered heater and while he was inside his apartment, a friend attempted to add more fuel to the heater.

Next thing people recall is an explosion which ended up consuming 80% of the balcony and left one of this guests with 20% of his body suffering from burns. Payne himself suffered burns and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Official reports are that nearly three dozen firefighters were required to extinguish the fire.

The incident took place Monday night at a quarter to ten. Upwards of 30 residents were evacuated during the blaze. It is believed that the burns Payne suffered were to his hands and they were only superficial.
