Actress Tami Erin, who starred in the 1988 film “The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking”, was arrested for assault on Thursday in Walnut Creek, California. Erin, 38, is accused of attacking her roommate, according to police.
A neighbor, who overheard the commotion between Erin and the male roommate, which included calls for help, went to the home to investigate and held Erin under citizen’s arrest until police arrived. Erin posted bail early Friday and was released, reports TMZ.
The case will be reviewed by the local district attorney.
Since the film, Erin has starred in only a small number of productions. Earlier in April, she was interviewed about her career, namely the time she spent on the Pippi Longstocking film. Erin won the role over several thousand other actresses who auditioned.
Erin stated last month in an interview she always felt that she was destined to go into acting. As a small child, she would often walk around her home behaving like a big screen star. She claims that her wish opened many doors for her and when she won the Pippi Longstocking part, it was literally a dream come true.
“From the time I was 5, I started walking around the house acting like a movie star. I would prance around and touch my hair,” she told The Daily Herald, adding that she believed acting was her “destiny.”
“This was something that I always knew I was meant to do. It was destiny for me. The way that doors kept opening for me, when I finally became a movie star, on some level it was like, ‘Exactly! Finally, I’m here!’ I wanted to be a movie star. A real movie star. My dream came true!”
Aside from acting, Erin worked as a UNICEF charity ambassador and spoke at the United Nations.
