Preventing Toddlers from Running Up Huge Cell Phone Bills
We’ve all seen the shocking stories of how a father or mother opens up their most recent cell phone bill and is schocked to see hundreds of dollars in charges that they insist they never made, that were in fact made from their cell phone by a toddler!
It’s becoming more commonplace that ever that downloading free games or apps on a cellphone can lead to some expensive charges if a toddler gets to playing with your cell phone. The most important rule to follow, however, may be that cell phones are not toys and should be kept out of reach of small children.
If you do insist on allowing a child to play with your cell phone, be certain that the device has been set to “airplane mode” so that its wireless connections have been disabled.
To prevent an unsuspecting toddler from making an expensive in-app purchase or running up high bills playing the same iTunes over and over again, you should enable restrictions on in-app purchases from your iPad or iPhone. To do this, simply open settings, then click general and click again on restrictions.
Now click the Enable Restrictions button, and enter a 4-digit passcode and confirm this passcode before continuing. Find the Allowed Content section of in-app purchases and position the slider to “off.”
