Olympic Gold Medalist Recieves Two Year Ban

Olympic Gold medalist and American sprinter Shawn Crawford, has received a two year ban. Crawford failed to comply with the Anti Doping Agency requirement for dope testing. The United States Anti-doping Agency released a statement saying Crawford had been given a two year suspension. It seems Crawford had not given his whereabouts for 18 months, which is a requirement. Crawford’s agent told Reuters news agency that his client had given his Silver medal to a competitor. Crawford claims he felt that his competitor had been wronged.

In 2004 Shawn Crawford won the gold medal for his performance in the 200m race. He then went on to win the Silver Medal four years later at the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Crawford is also known in the US for his appearance on an episode of Man versus Beast in 2003. The television show was broadcast on Fox. Crawford raced a zebra and a giraffe over 100m on dirt on the televised show. He beat the giraffe with ease, but lost to the zebra. Crawford accused the zebra of a false start. He later challenged the zebra again and re-raced the zebra. The zebra won again, but Crawford gave a good race.

Crawford took on the nickname “Cheetah Man” after the race.
