Sarah Silverman Returns Ex-Flame Jimmy Kimmel’s Belongings

Sarah Silverman’s technique of finding humor inside of taboo subjects didn’t quite work when she arrived on the set of the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show Thursday night.

Silverman was a guest on Kimmel’s show to promote her new comedy special on HBO. The 42-year-old brunette from Manchester, NH, has pulled off some funny comedy routines touching on religion, racism, and sexism.

So it was no surprise that Silverman, who was once Kimmel’s love interest from 2002 through 2007, would touch upon her former relationship with him for a comedy routine.

Silverman arrived holding a box marked as “Jimmy’s Stuff”.

“It’s like I never left, only you’re married,” she deadpans to Kimmel when she walks in. That immediately starts him laughing. “You heard about that, huh?” he says. Silverman responds, “I think someone texted me or something.”

She then returned to him socks which had remained in her possession for the past six years. At one point, she mused that everything is still the same with Kimmel and his crew except for the fact that he is now married.

Sadly, she was unable to pull it off. Instead, the routine clearly made both Kimmel and Silverman feel uncomfortable, in a weird fun way. In fact, Silverman may still harbor some resentment towards Kimmel whom she pointedly told she had once loved. There is definitely a fine line between tackling taboo issues in comedic fashion and coming across as the type of person that rhymes with the word rich.

“It’s like weird, but it’s good weird,” she says. “People breakup and exes are going to bump into each other, they’re gonna cross paths, they’re gonna be on each other’s talk shows. It’s the cycle of life.”
