Singapore model found dead in ditch, real estate broker arrested
In a region known for its strife, Fehmina Chaudhry was a breath of fresh air. The 27 year old model and beauty queen was found dead in a stream on the outside of Islamabad.
According to Islamabad police, a real estate broker named Muaz Waqar had encouraged her to come to Pakistan in search of property to buy.
‘Police arrested the real estate broker and after interrogation, he told officers that he had murdered the model and dumped her body in a stream at the outskirts of the city,’ Islamabad police spokesman Muhammad Naeem said.
Waqar has confessed to luring her to the area, killing her and then dumping her body into the stream. He was connected to the murder by using phone records and following his confession he led authorities to location of her body.
Fehmina Chaudhry was based out of Singapore and had many accomplishments as a model. Her promoter, Asif Hashmi, said that her intentions during this trip was to purchase land in Pakistan in order to establish a fashion school.
She frequently traveled to Pakistan to visit her mother. She disappeared on October 10th and a text message received by her mother telling her that her daughter had been kidnapped was the only communication received during this ordeal.
Chaudhry was married with a son and a daughter. A dedicated philanthropist, she was trying to bring beauty to a land known for violence.
