Lead Singer of La Mafia Attacked

A member of the popular Tejano group La Mafia was attacked outside a club in Houston early Tuesday night. He has suffered severe injuries to his face, including the loss of at least two teeth, and sustained an unknown level of harm to his eye.

It is not known precisely what lead to the altercation, though there are reports from other band members that an argument inside the club turned violent outside. What is known is that Oscar De La Rosa, the lead singer of La Mafia, was standing outside a bar with the band’s driver when they were suddenly attacked. Eyewitnesses claim that there was no provocation, but that the aggressor first struck the driver without warning. He then quickly turned to assault Mr. De La Rosa, who did not have a chance to defend himself. Bystanders were stunned by the ferocity of the attack. They were unable to prevent the assailant from escaping.

Mr. De La Rosa is currently in the hospital. He has identified his alleged attacker to the police, who are searching for them right now. La Mafia has released an official statement decrying the attack, but they have not cancelled or postponed any tour dates at this time.
