Donald Trump may just have met his match in the form of a scrappy 87-year-old woman who is suing him for breaking a condo purchase deal the two had made in the mid-2000s.
The deal involved the purchase to two condominiums at the Trump Hotel in Chicago each of which cost one million dollars. The woman, Jacqueline Goldberg, says that her agreement with Trump allowed her to participate in a profit-sharing plan with the purchase of the two condo units.
As per Goldberg, it was this aspect of the purchase agreement that “sealed the deal” with her.
However, the profit sharing agreement was cancelled by Trump after she purchased the units leaving her feeling cheated. Finally, Goldberg decided someone needed to stand up to the real estate mogul and she has taken him to civil court asking for a return of her $500,000 deposit on the units and her share of the income earned from the original profit sharing agreement. Trump himself gave testimony last week in the trial, but was often combative.
“She told jurors at the civil trial in Chicago that she felt ‘conned’ when Trump withdrew the profit-sharing plan after she bought the condos. Testifying last week, Trump denied the allegations. He also told reporters that Goldberg was in fact trying to rip him off,” The Epoch Times reports.
In comments to the press afterwards, Trump offered up insults about the plaintiff.
The whole matter will soon go into the hands of the jury which will decide on whether Trump mislead the elderly woman.
