Teen killed in kite flying row In India
Indian boy beaten and killed over trivial kite dispute
Rajan Chand, a 17 year old Indian boy, was kicked and beaten to death after a dispute over a kite that took place on the rooftops of Northeast Delhi. After breaking a nearby boy’s kite line Friday night, the angry boy threatened to gain vengeance.
Not taking the threat serious, Rajan did not inform his parents. He was attacked on Saturday by the enraged boy and his three companions. According to police, Rajan was walking to the bank enclave with his 14-year-old friend when the two were cornered and confronted by the four juveniles. The attackers beat and kicked Rajan until he was unconscious.
Witnesses were able to break up the fight and rush the teenagers to the hospital. Once Rajan was admitted to the hospital, he was determined to be dead. Rajan’s friend is in critical condition and receiving treatment. After the killing, arrests were made for a 17-year-old and 16-year-old. A trivial dispute over a kite has led to a murder. The father of Rajan stated, “Had our son told us about the threat, we would have done something.” Rajan’s parents desire that all four of the accused be arrested and given a harsh punishment.
