Thai Man Donates Meth to Flood Victims, Misguided Deed Goes Awry
Bangkok, October 16, 2013
Thai officials have confirmed that a 39 year old local man was arrested after he attempted to donate methamphetamine tablets, “meth” to a volunteer station helping recent flood victims. The man has yet to be officially identified but sources state that he is Jakrit Mukpradab. Mukpradab attempted to donate eleven meth tablets to a volunteer with the instructions that “they should try to sell the tablets and use the cash to help the flood victims.”
Officials stated that the volunteers were actually officers for the government’s drug control task force. The volunteering officers immediately detained the man and the drugs and held him for authorities. Witnesses say that the 39 year old man appeared to be under the influence but it was not readily known if drugs were involved.
Thailand has one of the most rigorous and stringent drug control laws in the world and some trafficking and possession offenses are even punishable by death. Meth has quickly become one of the deadliest and most addictive drug available on the market. It is cheap to make and in many cases can be homemade despite its unstable nature.
