Albany, OR – Police were tipped off about a potential Columbine-like massacre that was being planned by 17-year-old Grant Accord. While his motive is undetermined at this time, his methods of killing are not. Accord was planning on carrying out his carnage West Albany High School using homemade explosives which were uncovered in his room after a police raid. Authorities found six kinds of bombs in a special compartment of the floor boards which mainly consisted of drain-cleaner bombs, pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, and napalm bombs. The district attorney for Benton County has charged Accord as an adult with a felony charge of aggravated murder.

The tip to police informed them that Accord had successfully developed a “destructive device” and said that he was intent on using the device to kill people at the local high school. Also found in Accord’s possession were the following incriminating items: checklists, firearms, and diagrams. Police have not stated on what date Accord planned to carry out his killing spree, but they did a precautionary bomb sweep of the school which came up clear.

Authorities say that it will be safe to resume school after the Memorial Day weekend.

The massacre at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, continues to inspire similar acts by homicidal teens wanting to follow in the footsteps of killer Klebold and Harris who killed thirteen people at their school before committing suicide. Several similar plots have been foiled over the past fourteen years by teens who’ve provided police valuable tips.
