Former NFL Tackle Williams Found Dead in Hotel

Todd Williams, an offensive tackle for Florida State who also gained national attention playing for several NFL teams, was found dead in the hotel room where he had been a six-year resident in Tampa Bay, Florida. Williams, who was a native of Bradenton, was 35 years old. His mother reported that he complained of feeling ill last Friday with an unidentified sickness. Williams had also mentioned to other friends that he was experiencing constant stomach pain over the past few weeks in addition to losing his sense of taste. It was his mother who discovered his body and contacted officials from the Seminole County Sheriff’s department.

Law enforcement officials say that they did not find anything unusual or suspicious in his hotel room to indicate that any kind of foul play was involved in William’s death, but that an autopsy would be conducted shortly. Williams was already a star football player while attending Southeast High School in his native Bradenton and was drafted by the Seminoles in 1999. He moved onto the Tennessee Titans in the NFL draft four years later and continued his gridiron career playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well as the Green Bay Packers.
