Ballpark Installs Urinal Video Games to Encourage Prostate Health

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Pennsylvania is taking a very unorthodox approach to teaching men more about prostate health. The health network is sponsoring the installation of new urinal video games in the men’s rooms at Iron Pigs Coca-Cola Park in Allentown.

Men can enjoy the hands-free game by directing their urine flow to the right or left of the receptacle in order to advance a snowmobile along a selected path, targeting penguin figurines along the way. The names of those men who are the highest scorers in the game will be displayed in the restrooms as well as elsewhere throughout the park.

During the course of the game, messages appear about good prostate health and the importance of scheduling an annual prostate exam with their physician. The installation of this type of urinal video game is a first in the United States, although they have already proven quite popular at various locations throughout the United Kingdom where they have been installed in male restrooms. Reaction to the unique video games which are controlled totally by urine flow have ranged between surprise and good humor to disbelief. The park did not release any figures about how many men are choosing to engage in the games while using the restroom facilities.
