Video Captures Near Tragic Collision of two Big Rigs and a Snow Plow near Thunderbay

Nipigon, Ontario – A new tragic accident was captured on film in this small Thunder Bay town of 1,600 people this past January 4. The video was recorded on the camera of a snow plow who driver was quietly doing his job of clearing the highway of snow. A semi-truck was driving in the opposite direction and its driver executed a pass dangerously close to him. It was the worst of conditions in which to be attempting such a dangerous pass as the roads offered little traction to avoid a deadly impact.

The snow plow driver is heard to exasperate his disbelief at the big rig driver’s decision at which point the driver slams into the guard rail in an attempt to clear enough room to avoid a head-on collision. The driver says the rig was carrying a dangerous payload, but based that conclusion on the truck signage. The load itself wasn’t identified. To make matters worse, the truck driver wasn’t even in a lane designated for passing and did so going uphill at a curve in the road.

The driver has uploaded the video, but his identity isn’t known. The video belongs to someone with the handle “clginter”. Ontario Police are examining the video as part of their ongoing effort to bring the truck driver to justice. This would imply that the banal driver did not stop after the accident to swap insurance card information and in effect fled the scene of an accident he provoked. According to police, the incident occurred on Highway 11 just north of the town. Apparently, the investigation isn’t going very well at this point as the police haven’t been able to contact even the person who uploaded the video. It may be that the snow plow driver didn’t fill out an incident report nor report the damage to the guard rail.
