Woman Lay Dead Eight Years in Sydney Home

Natalie Wood was discovered by police in July 2011 having died in early 2004.
An inner city home in Sydney, Australia held a horrifying secret for eight years. The owner of the house, Natalie Wood, lay dead in her home for all that time before finally being discovered in 2011. Local news media called Wood “the woman Sydney forgot” despite the fact that her home was located just a short distance from the always bustling downtown Central Station. Neighbors said they thought she had moved away years earlier, leaving her home vacant, but in reality Wood died in 2004 and only skeletal remains were discovered eight years later by police officials assigned to investigate.
Wood had lived in the house since she was born in 1924 but refused to socialize with anyone in the neighborhood, preferring to become a recluse and refusing to even answer the front door unless the visitor was aware they had to use a special signal for knocking. An investigation is ongoing, but police officials surmise that she fell in her bedroom, was unable to get back up and subsequently died. Wood left no final will and testament, although her home is valued at almost a million dollars. A sister-in-law and several cousins plan on claiming a share of her estate.
