“Black Rapunzel” Risks Paralysis Over Dreadlocks

Atlanta, Georgia – Asha Mandala holds the world record for the longest dreadlocks at 19.5 feet long. At age 50, Mandala has kept her hair in excellent condition allowing it to continually grow. It has taken her 25 years to grow her hair out this long. She has even earned the nickname “Black Rapunzel” due to her hair length.

Mandala, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, wears her hair proudly, but says that doctors have expressed their grave concerns over the health risks she runs. The sheer weight of the hair has created an unnatural stress on her neck and spine resulting in curvature. Some experts believe her neck to have sunk in exposing her to possible spasms and eventual paralysis.

Is it worth the risk? Mandala believes the answer is a resounding yes. She says that men have found her all the more attractive due to the length of her hair which makes for a most unique intimate experience. She describes the sexual encounters as being spiced up by her hair.

As for being the world record holder, Mandala has no fear of a challenger. Guinness World Record stopped monitoring this category due to the difficulty in discriminating between actual hair and extensions.
