Alex Trebek’s replacement? Will Matt Lauer Replace The Iconic Canadian

Rumor’s Swirl about Alex Trebek’s Replacement

Game show legend Alex Trebek is reported to be leaving his role as the host of Jeopardy at the end of his current contract in 2016.

The decision of the Jeopardy host to step down after hosting the show for more than three decades has seen Jeopardy owner already searching for a suitable replacement.

The TV personality being closely linked with the job is Matt Lauer who is currently struggling to hold on to his current role as the host of NBC’s morning show Today and was last week forced into a public apology over his role in Ann Curry leaving the show in 2012.

Lauer’s contract with NBC is reported to be worth around $25 million per year and is set to end in 2015; soome television insiders do not expect Lauer to renew his contract with NBC when it ends.

Rumors suggest Lauer could be willing to entertain the move to Jeopardy as he has recently shouldered the blame for Today’s slide in the ratings to number two in the competitive morning news slot to ABC’s Good Morning America.

Others reported to have been contacted by Sony Pictures Television about the Jeopardy hosting position include Anderson Cooper and Brian Williams.
