Boston Marathon Injury Count: 3 Dead 150 Injured UPDATE

Boston Marathon Casualty Update
A Boston University graduate student has been confirmed the third victim of the Boston Marathon bombing that occurred Monday at the finish line on Boylston Street. The student’s name has not been yet released.

The second of two bombing victims has been identified as Krystle M. Campbell a 29-year-old from Medford, Massachusetts. Krystle was at the finish line with a friend to cheer her friends boyfriend that was participating in the marathon. Her father described Krystle as a “loveable girl” and is reported to be in shock of the death of his daughter.

The first reported death was that of Martin Richard, 8-year-old little boy from Dorchester, Mass. Martin was a typical little boy that enjoyed playing outside, he liked riding his bike and baseball. His mother and sister were also seriously wounded in the explosion.

The total casualty rate is standing at more than 150 people, including three deaths, ten of them are children, and 17 have sustained critical injuries. The FBI has taken control of the investigation, Special Agent Richard DesLauriers, has been quoted as saying “Our mission is clear: to bring to justice those responsible for the marathon bombings.”

The FBI has set up a tip line and encourages anyone with information to call 1-800-494-TIPS.

Boston Marathon Bomb Attack Claims 3 Lives Injures 141

A pair of bombs which exploded within seconds in close proximity to the finish line of 2013 Boston Marathon. So far, three people have died from the blasts including one child.

Authorities say 141 people were injured, and the likelihood that the death toll will rise is high given that seventeen victims are being reported as being in critical condition. A two-year-old child is among wounded fighting for life.

One man who was close to the bomb site told reporters that victims were being carried out in wheel chairs. He recounted seeing one victim with his legs decapitated and the leg bones in plain sight.

The terrorist attack took place shortly after the winner had crossed the finish line. The pair of bombs was roughly one hundred yards apart and set off approximately 12 seconds from each other.

Authorities in Washington said there was no immediate claim of responsibility.

“They just started bringing people in with no limbs,” said runner Tim Davey, of Richmond, Va. He said he and his wife, Lisa, tried to keep their children’s eyes shielded from the gruesome scene inside a medical tent that had been set up to care for fatigued runners, but “they saw a lot.”

“They just kept filling up with more and more casualties,” Lisa Davey said. “Most everybody was conscious. They were very dazed.”

At this time, local police, FBI and other homeland security people are in a frenzy scouring intelligence to determine the cause of the massacre. No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Senator Diane Feinstein of California said the attack could be from homegrown terrorists or foreigner such as Al-Qaida. At this point, no one is certain who is at fault for the attack.
