Chad Johnson In Custody After Violating Probation, Calls It A “Misunderstanding”
Legal woes for former NFL star wide receiver Chad Ochocinco continue to mount. Following the misdemeanor assault charge for head-butting his wife Evelyn Lozada, Ochocinco successfully worked out a plea-bargain that placed him under probation for one year.
However, he now finds himself arrested for failure to meet with his probation officer. It may be that Ochocinco is finding it hard to live under the probation restrictions which most certainly would require travel authorization from his probation officer before leaving the state.
Ochocinco was served a warrant for failure to meet with his probation officer, and the fact that he was in California talking smack about this predicament hasn’t helped things either.
While he was in California, he received word that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
Ochocinco returned to court to explain himself before the judge who was unmoved by his admission of a misunderstanding in missing his appointment, and ordered him placed in jail pending a $1,000 bond.
“I didn’t do any of this on purpose and I’ve been doing everything I was supposed to do. That’s all,” he said in court.
The judge said he completed only 19 classes but should have completed the whole course by last March and still has seven classes remaining, reports the LA Times.
“I’m perplexed why he’s not done,” the judge said.
As of this time, Ochocinco has posted bail and is awaiting the outcome of his violation of probation on June 3. The prosecution wants Ochocinco to serve 60-days in jail. Ochocinco is four months away from completion of his probation sentence barring any extension the court may impose.
